Norway, known as the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe. It covers the western part of the Scandinavian Peninsula. It also includes the Arctic islands of Svalbard and Jan Mayen, plus overseas areas like Bouvet Island and Peter I Island. The mainland has a long coast with deep fjords. High mountains cover about two thirds of its 385,000 square kilometres of land. The population is about 5.6 million.
