The Netherlands, known as the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is a constitutional monarchy that spans continents. It includes the European Netherlands in northwest Europe and Caribbean areas: Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. The European part has 12 provinces and covers 33,720 square kilometres of land. It borders Germany to the east and Belgium to the south. It has long coasts along the North Sea and large river deltas from the Rhine and Meuse rivers.
