Hiked part 7/25 of the Veluwe Wander Trail, 13.1 kilometres from Garderen to Putten centrum.</p>

The Speulder and Sprielderbos still partly consists of the old, communally managed malebos. The forest between Garderen and Putten has been a forest since the Stone Age and there is a mysterious, fairytale atmosphere with crooked oaks and beech trees that are mixed up haphazardly.</p> </blockquote>

This short stage leads you from Kootwijk to Garderen, with a beautiful view of the enk. In the drifting sand area of Maanschoten near Uddel there is a half-covered, irregularly grown oak grove of thirty meters in circumference. From Otterlo you walk to the Harskamp, which is best known for the army of soldiers who have been based here since 1893. Here in the Gelderse Vallei the landscape is different from the drifting sand forests elsewhere on the Veluwe. The end point is Kootwijk, which is also called 'Kootwiek'.</p> </blockquote>

From Lunteren, experienced by its inhabitants as a close-knit village, you walk to what was designated the geographical center of the Netherlands in 1930. Afterwards, you go to the Wekeromse Zand sand drift, which is fenced off and grazed by a herd of mouflons to keep the heath and drifting sand area open.</p> </blockquote>

Heading towards Rhijnestein Castle and passing the old village green of Cothen, the route winds through fruit trees. The Kromme Rijn continues on a beautiful loop through historic Dorestad and the well-preserved Duurstede Castle. Leersum is reached via the willow groves and Broekhuizen estate.</p> </blockquote>

After Hooghalen, you’ll walk to camp Westerbork, the final destination of the Westerborkpad. The museum houses a projection of the names of over a hundred thousand victims. You’ll also come across the speaking image of the National Monument Westerbork, featuring the remnants of the old railway line with its bent rails.</p> </blockquote>

Every 32 meters along the route, for approximately 3 kilometres, there’s a post with a date and the number of people transported to different camps.</p>
These aren’t just ordinary posts; they’re markers that used to be part of the track.</p>
There were 93 transports from Westerbork camp to the various concentration camps, including Auschwitz, Sobibor, Mauthausen, Bergen Belsen, and Theresienstadt.</p>
