Hiked 8.0 kilometres from Hattem to Zwolle.
Hattem is the Hanseatic city on the IJssel where you will visit the Jewish synagogue in the Achterstraat. You leave the town via the Dijkpoort, the only remaining city gate in Hattem. You can already see the Peperbus on the other side of the IJssel Zwolle with the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren.

The statue is of Johan Rudolph Thorbecke, a Dutch statesman who made waves in the 19th century. He’s the mastermind behind the Dutch Constitution revision in 1848. This groundbreaking change transformed the country from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy. The States General and Council of Ministers gained more power, while individual rights were granted to all Dutch citizens. Thorbecke’s contributions were truly significant!
