Westerbork Path part 18
Hiked 8.7 kilometres from Wezep to Hattem.
A varied stage with forest, villages and a river landscape. From Wezep station you quickly stand in the green and you first walk through the forest and then the Wezepsche Heide. On the border of the Veluwe and IJssel valley is the beautiful Molecaten estate and from there you walk in Hattem.

Synagogue of Hattem
The Jewish religious community of this synagogue consisted of people from the Jewish community of Hattem, Heerde and Epe. Sixteen Jewish Hattemers were deported and killed by betrayal and registration. Two Jewish Hattemers were killed in Hattem as a result of the occupation. Only a few managed to go into hiding and survive in this way. The interior of the synagogue was damaged during the war and the torah scrolls were lost.
