Veluwe Wander Trail part 11

Hiked part 11/25 of the Veluwe Wander Trail, 16.2 kilometres from Vierhouten to Vaassen.

From Vierhouten the trail leads through pine and spruce forest onto the wide open heathland, dotted with solitary Scots pines under dramatic skies. After crossing a second stretch of heath, the route passes thatched-roof farms and a historic schoolhouse before entering green farmland with tree-lined lanes and grazing cattle. The final section follows a canal past herons and geese to Kasteel Cannenburch, a stately moated castle, before ending in the village of Vaassen.
