The Holy Bible - Second John
The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.
Why read it?
The Second Letter of John is a short note from the apostle John, written around 85–95 AD, to a chosen lady and her children, likely a church and its members. John warns against false teachers who deny that Jesus came in the flesh. He urges them to walk in truth, love one another, and not welcome deceivers.
You will find a clear call to hold the true teaching about Christ and to show love through obedience. This brief letter guards believers from error.
Favourite quote
In 2 John 1:6, John writes:
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
These words tie love to obedience. We show love for God by keeping His commands.
What I Loved
The warm greeting in verses 1-3 touches me. John calls himself the elder and speaks of love in truth to those who know the truth. This simple start shows the bond among believers who share the same faith in Jesus.
Key Takeaway
Second John teaches that truth and love go together. We must obey God's commands and reject teachers who deny Christ's human nature. The letter calls us to love one another and watch out for deceivers who lead people astray. It reminds us to stay faithful to what we first learned about Christ.
