The Holy Bible - Proverbs

The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.

Why read it?

The Book of Proverbs is a treasure trove of practical wisdom that’ll guide you to a godly, fulfilling life. It’s mostly credited to King Solomon, and its 31 chapters are packed with short, memorable sayings that cover everything from relationships and work to speech, integrity, and decision-making. At its core, Proverbs is about living in accordance with God’s truth, rooted in the “fear of the Lord” (Proverbs 1:7).

You’ll find sharp insights that help you cut through life’s complexities, urging you to pursue righteousness, avoid folly, and seek wisdom above all. Proverbs is like a wise mentor, equipping you to navigate challenges with discernment and live in a way that honours God and blesses others.

Favourite quote

From Proverbs 3:5-6, these words are so clear and trustworthy:

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs’ message is all about trusting God’s wisdom more than our own limited ideas. It’s like saying, “Let go and let God guide us. We know you’ll lead us to peace and direction in everything we do.”

What I Loved

Proverbs 4:23 really hits me with its vivid imagery. It says, “Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” It’s so powerful that it makes me think about how our hearts are the source of our actions, and we need to take care of them. Proverbs even gives wisdom a human face, like a woman calling out to us (Proverbs 8). It’s like a wake-up call to make good choices every day. It reminds me to stay true to God’s word and protect what matters most to me.

Key Takeaway

Proverbs says that being wise, especially when we respect God, is the secret to living a good life. It tells us to trust God’s guidance, like in Proverbs 3:5-6, keep our hearts safe, and make choices that are true to Him. The book encourages us to be careful and honest, and to use God’s principles to help us deal with life’s tricky situations with confidence and blessings.
