The Holy Bible - Micah

The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.

Why read it?

The Book of Micah delivers God’s message through the prophet Micah in the 8th century BC, during a time of corruption in Judah and Israel. It condemns injustice, false worship, and greed, while calling for repentance. Micah also shares hope of a coming ruler from Bethlehem and God’s mercy for His people.

You will find sharp warnings, promises of a Messiah, and a clear call to live justly. This book suits anyone seeking to understand God’s demand for fairness and His plan for redemption.

Favourite quote

In Micah 6:8, God sums up His expectations:

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

This verse boils down faith to action: be fair, show kindness, and stay humble. It guides us to live in a way that pleases God.

What I Loved

The prophecy in Micah 5:2 stands out to me: “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” This points to the Messiah’s birth in Bethlehem. Its precision and hope for a saviour excite me, showing God’s plan across time.

Key Takeaway

Micah stresses that God hates oppression and empty rituals but loves justice and mercy. The people’s sins bring judgement, yet God promises a future king and restoration (Micah 7:18-20). The book urges us to act right, show compassion, and trust God’s forgiveness. It reminds us that God’s plans endure, and He offers hope to those who follow Him.
