The Holy Bible - Judges
The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.
Why read it?
It’s a story about Israel’s ups and downs, their faithfulness and disobedience, and how God sent judges to rescue them from their troubles. It’s a mix of warnings and hope, showing what happens when you ignore God and what He’s willing to do for those who ask for Him.
As it is written:
“Nevertheless the Lord raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.” (Judges 2:16)
This book teaches that even though people are unfaithful, God remains merciful and powerful to save.
Favourite quote
“And he said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.” (Judges 2:1)
Even when Israel turned away, the Lord remained steadfast in His covenant, always calling His people back unto Him.
What I Loved
One of the stories in Judges is the story about Samson, a super strong guy chosen by God to save Israel from the Philistines. Even though he was super strong, he made some bad choices and ended up getting defeated. But even in his last moments, he asked God for help, and God gave him one last win over his enemies.
Samson’s story teaches us that God can use even the weakest and most flawed people to do His work. Even though Samson failed, his strength wasn’t his own—it was from God. And in his final prayer, he said, “O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me” (Judges 16:28). That shows us that true strength comes from God, not from us.
Key Takeaway
The Book of Judges says that without God, people do what they think is right, and that can lead to disaster. But even when we’re doing wrong, God is still merciful to those who turn to Him.
The main lesson is this: God is our saviour, even when we mess up. As it says in the Bible:
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped.” (Psalm 28:7)
Let us, therefore, trust not in our own strength, but in the Lord, who is ever mighty to save.
