The Holy Bible - Isaiah
The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.
Why read it?
Isaiah’s Book of Prophecies is a powerful and inspiring work that speaks to God’s judgment, mercy, and plan for Israel and the world. Written by the prophet Isaiah during a tough time for Judah, it confronts sin, warns of the consequences, and reveals the hope of a coming Messiah. With its soaring poetry and vivid imagery, it’s a key part of biblical prophecy.
You’ll hear God’s call to change, promises of healing, and glimpses of a future kingdom under the Messiah’s rule. Isaiah speaks to your heart, showing God’s holiness and His desire to save. It’s a deep guide to understanding God’s character and finding hope in His promises, no matter what’s going on.
Favourite quote
In Isaiah 40:31, a verse of enduring encouragement shines brightly:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
This promise shows God’s incredible power to keep and lift us up when we trust in Him. It reminds us that being patient and having faith in God gives us new energy, helping us overcome life’s tough times. These words give us strength and hope, showing us that God never lets us down.
What I Loved
Isaiah 53’s vision of the Suffering Servant really speaks to me. The passage, describing the Messiah’s sacrifice—“He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities” (Isaiah 53:5), is a heartbreaking yet beautiful picture of selfless love. It’s amazing how this prophecy, written centuries before Christ, so perfectly describes His redemptive work.
This chapter humbles me, reminding me of the cost of my salvation and filling me with gratitude for God’s unmerited grace. It challenges me to live in light of that sacrifice, with a heart turned toward Him.
Key Takeaway
Isaiah paints a vivid picture of God’s holiness, justice, and endless mercy. He calls His people to turn away from their idols and pride and embrace the hope of a Saviour. He contrasts the emptiness of idolatry and pride with the peace and security that come from trusting God. Even though Judah rebelled against God, He remained faithful and promised to restore them and build a kingdom where His rule would be peaceful.
Isaiah encourages us to seek God with all our hearts, rest in His promises, and live with hope. He reminds us that His redemptive plan, through Jesus Christ, offers salvation to everyone who turns to Him.
