The Holy Bible - First Timothy
The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.
Why read it?
The First Letter to Timothy is Paul’s personal guide for his young helper Timothy, written around 62–64 AD. Paul tells him how to lead the church in Ephesus, fight false teaching, choose leaders, care for widows, and handle money. It is a practical handbook for church order and godly living.
You will find clear rules for worship, leadership, and daily conduct. This book helps anyone who serves in church or wants to know how a healthy church works.
Favourite quote
In 1 Timothy 1:15, Paul states:
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
These words sum up the gospel and Paul’s own wonder at grace.
What I Loved
The charge in chapter 6 grips me: “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life” (1 Timothy 6:12). Paul urges Timothy to keep going when it is hard. This battle cry reminds me that faith is active, not passive, and the prize is worth everything.
Key Takeaway
First Timothy teaches that the church must guard sound teaching, pray for all people, and live lives that honour God. Leaders must be above reproach, and everyone must pursue righteousness. The book calls us to flee greed, follow godliness with contentment, and pass the faith to the next generation. It reminds us that Jesus will return as King, so we must serve Him faithfully now.
