The Holy Bible - First John

The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.

Why read it?

The First Letter of John was written by the apostle John around 85–95 AD to churches he knew well. He fights false teachers who denied Jesus came in the flesh and lived without concern for sin. John stresses fellowship with God, love for others, obedience, and confidence that Jesus is the true Son of God.

You will find tests of real faith, warnings against loving the world, and assurance of eternal life. This book helps anyone who wants to know if their faith is genuine.

Favourite quote

In 1 John 4:7-8, John writes:

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

These two sentences link love directly to knowing God. True believers show love because God is love.

What I Loved

The opening in chapter 1 grips me. John says he writes about what he has seen and touched—the Word of life, Jesus Himself (1 John 1:1-3). This eyewitness truth makes the message real and invites us into fellowship with God and His people.

Key Takeaway

First John teaches that God is light and love, so His children walk in light and love others. We confess sin, obey His commands, and believe in Jesus to prove we belong to Him. The letter calls us to love in action, reject false spirits, and rest in God’s forgiveness. It reminds us that victory over the world comes through faith in Christ.
