The Holy Bible - Ezekiel
The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.
Why read it?
The Book of Ezekiel follows the prophet Ezekiel, called by God during Judah’s exile in Babylon around 593–571 BC. It captures his visions, symbolic acts, and messages of judgment and hope. Ezekiel confronts Judah’s idolatry and sin, warning of God’s justice while promising restoration for the faithful. His vivid visions, like the valley of dry bones, reveal God’s power to renew and redeem.
You will see Ezekiel’s bold obedience, God’s glory departing the temple, and promises of a new heart for God’s people. This book suits anyone wanting to explore divine judgment, personal responsibility, and God’s commitment to restore what is broken.
Favourite quote
In Ezekiel 36:26, God promises transformation:
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
This verse offers hope of renewal, showing God’s desire to change hearts and restore His people. It reminds us that God can replace hardness with love, guiding us to live faithfully.
What I Loved
Ezekiel’s vision of the dry bones in chapter 37 grips me. God shows him a valley of scattered bones, asking, “Can these bones live?” (Ezekiel 37:3). Through God’s command, the bones come together, gain flesh, and breathe again—a picture of Israel’s restoration. This scene stuns me with God’s power to bring life from death, inspiring trust in His ability to revive what seems lost in my own life.
Key Takeaway
Ezekiel teaches that God holds people accountable for their actions, yet His justice comes with mercy. Judah’s exile results from rebellion, but God promises to renew His covenant and restore His people (Ezekiel 36:28). The book calls us to repent, obey God’s voice, and trust His plan to rebuild. Ezekiel’s life shows that God uses faithful servants, even in tough times, to proclaim truth and point to His unending faithfulness.
