The Holy Bible - Esther
The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.
Why read it?
Have you ever heard of the Book of Esther? It’s a super cool story about a Jewish girl named Esther who becomes queen in the Persian Empire. Her cousin Mordecai is her best friend and helps her out when a bad plot is hatched to wipe out their people. It’s a wild ride filled with twists and turns, and you’ll be on the edge of your seat the whole time.
But here’s the thing: even though God’s name isn’t mentioned in the book, He’s still there, guiding Esther and Mordecai through it all. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest of times, God can work wonders and bring us hope. So, buckle up and get ready for an epic adventure that’ll make you believe in the power of faith and courage!
Favourite quote
In Esther 4:14, Mordecai’s words to Esther are super important:
For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
This verse captures the urgency of Esther’s moment and the mystery of God’s purpose. It challenges us to recognise our own “such a time” moments, where God places us to act for His glory, trusting His providence even when the stakes are high.
What I Loved
In Esther 5, the most dramatic moment happens when Esther boldly approaches King Ahasuerus without any invitation. Despite knowing the danger, she boldly declares: “If I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16). Before stepping into the king’s court, there was a palpable tension as she waited for the king to extend his scepter. Her courage in that moment was electrifying. It’s a powerful reminder that faith often demands bold action, and God honours those who step out in trust, even when trembling.
Key Takeaway
Esther shares that God’s plan is always in motion, even when we can’t see it. He gives His people the courage and wisdom to fight against evil. When Haman’s plan backfires and the Jews are saved, it shows that God’s plans work through those who trust His timing and follow their purpose. The book encourages us to stand up for justice, take advantage of God’s opportunities, and trust Him to turn tough situations around for His glory.
