The Holy Bible - Deuteronomy

The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.

Why read it?

Why should you read the Book of Deuteronomy? Well, Moses, the servant of the Lord, tells the story of the law and the amazing things God did for the Israelites before they entered the Promised Land. It’s like a reminder of what God did and a call to follow God’s rules and love each other.

As it is written:

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (Deuteronomy 6:5)

This book teaches that true obedience comes from love, and that we do not just live on bread, but on every word that comes out of the Lord’s mouth.

Favourite quote

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Moses spoke these words to the Israelites, and they are a reminder that God always leads the way. Even when things get tough, He is always there for us, faithful and true.

What I Loved

Deuteronomy is a book that really shows us the heart of God. He does not just want us to obey Him, He wants us to have a relationship with Him. The commandments are given to us not as a burden, but as a blessing so that we can live and thrive in the land He promised us.

Moses’ last words are a mix of warnings and promises. He tells the people to choose life, to love and follow the Lord, because in Him is their hope and strength. Even though Moses himself was not allowed to enter the land, his faith remained strong, and he blessed the tribes of Israel before he left.

This book also hints at Christ. Moses prophesied about Him:

The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken. (Deuteronomy 18:15)

This prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the great Redeemer and Lawgiver.

Key Takeaway

The Book of Deuteronomy says that love and obedience are like best friends. If you follow the Lord’s ways, you will live a happy and fulfilling life.

The main message is this: Stay close to the Lord, because He is the only one who can give you life and make you live long. As it is written:

The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deuteronomy 33:27)

So, let’s put our trust in the Lord, follow His word, and live by His ways. That way, we can unlock the promises He has got for us!
