The Holy Bible - Colossians

The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.

Why read it?

The Letter to the Colossians is Paul’s short but powerful answer to false teaching in Colossae around 60–62 AD. He warns against mixing Christ with human rules, angel worship, or secret knowledge. Instead he lifts Jesus as the full image of God, the creator, and the head of the church. The letter shows how to live the new life we have in Him.

You will find some of the highest teaching about who Jesus is, plus clear rules for homes and work. This book guards the heart against empty religion and fills it with Christ.

Favourite quote

In Colossians 2:9-10, Paul writes:

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

These two sentences settle every question: all of God is in Christ, and in Christ we lack nothing.

What I Loved

The prayer in chapter 1 takes my breath away. Paul asks that we “might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10). This simple, bold request shows what matters most—knowing Jesus and living for Him.

Key Takeaway

Colossians teaches that Jesus is supreme over everything and enough for everything. Because we died and rose with Him, we can put off the old life and put on love. The book calls us to set our hearts on things above, let Christ’s peace rule, and do all in His name. It reminds us that the Christian life is Christ living in us, day by day.
