The Holy Bible - Amos

The Holy Bible is a collection of books. So I have split them up. I will read it in 1 year, every day ~15 minutes of reading.

Why read it?

The Book of Amos records the words of Amos, a shepherd from Tekoa. God sends him to warn Israel in the 8th century BC. Amos speaks against rich people who harm the poor. He calls for justice and true worship. The book shows visions of judgement on nations, including Israel, for their sins. It ends with hope for restoration.

You will find strong words on fairness, attacks on false religion, and God's care for the weak. This book fits anyone who wants to learn about social right and wrong, and God's demand for honest lives.

Favourite quote

In Amos 5:24, the prophet demands:

But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

This passage contrasts the fate of enemies with the eternal security of God's people. It highlights God's justice against wrong and His commitment to purify and protect those who belong to Him.

What I Loved

The vision in chapter 7 moves me. Amos sees a basket of summer fruit. God says it means the end for Israel due to their wrongs (Amos 8:1-2). This simple image carries deep meaning. It shows how God uses everyday things to warn. The scene makes me think about signs in my own life and the need to heed them.

Key Takeaway

Amos teaches that God hates unfairness and fake faith. Israel's wealth hides their mistreatment of others, leading to ruin. Yet God offers a future of peace for those who turn to Him (Amos 9:11-15). The book calls us to seek justice, help the needy, and worship with true hearts. It reminds us that God judges actions and restores the faithful.
