To the Ends of the Earth by Hillsong United

I found To the Ends of the Earth later than most, the 2002 live album from Hillsong United. It is an early record from the youth arm of the church, recorded with a young crowd and full of eager energy. The title carries its theme: a call to carry faith outward, as far as it will reach.
Why listen?
The sound is early youth worship, guitar-driven and bright, simpler than the band would later become. The production is plainly live, the crowd close and loud through every chorus. The lyrics keep to surrender, devotion, and the wish to take the message far. There is a freshness here, a band still finding the songs that would define them. It is unpolished and warm, and that is much of its charm.
Favourite song: To the Ends of the Earth
The title track stands above the rest for its driving energy and its plain, outward-looking heart. The young crowd sings it as if they truly mean to carry it everywhere.
I would go to the ends of the earth
To the ends of the earth
For You alone are the Son of God
And all the world will see
That You are God
The way the song presses forward feels like the first eager miles of a long walk, when the legs are fresh. It answers comfort with a willingness to go far. That early eagerness is what has stayed with me, hearing it years on.
Key takeaway
To the Ends of the Earth is an eager, early youth worship record full of energy. A warm late discovery.
