Tides by Bethel Music

Tides is the first studio album from Bethel Music, the worship collective from Redding, California, released in 2013. After a run of live records, the team stepped into the studio to shape something more crafted. The theme moves like the title suggests, the pull and return of God's love over a life. That image of being carried is what drew me in.

Why listen?

The sound is spacious, unhurried worship, built on warm keys and patient guitars. The production is rich and atmospheric, with room left between the notes. The lyrics dwell on pursuit, surrender, and resting in grace. There is a slow tidal motion across the album, songs that rise and fall rather than rush. It is music for a quiet morning more than a packed room.

Favourite song: Forever

This is the song that reached furthest, a long meditation on the cross and the empty grave. It builds slowly and gives the great story room to unfold.

The track lets the verses gather before the chorus breaks open, and the wait makes the release land. It reminds me of cresting a slow hill at dawn, the long pull suddenly paying off as the view opens wide. The tide goes out, but it always turns and comes back in.
