La Luna by Sarah Brightman

La Luna is Sarah Brightman's release from 2000, soaring vocal lines over lush arrangements. It runs to 61 minutes across 15 tracks on Angel Records. I came to it well after release and have returned to it since.
Why listen?
The voice is the centre, clear and unhurried over lush arrangements. The songs move between pop and the classical line with ease. It is grand without losing its warmth.
Favourite song: A Whiter Shade of Pale
An ethereal reworking of the Procol Harum classic that became a major single in Japan and gave Brightman her first entry on the US dance chart.
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
Key takeaway
La Luna is a fine place to start. Give it a listen.
