Come Away by Jesus Culture

Come Away by Jesus Culture

Come Away is the 2010 live worship album from Jesus Culture, recorded at their conference in Redding, California. The collective grew out of a youth movement, and their sound is built for long, open praise. The theme is invitation, a call to draw near and stay a while, and that unhurried spirit drew me in.

Why listen?

The sound is wide and atmospheric, guitars and synths left to breathe over extended songs. The production keeps the room alive, the congregation a real presence throughout. The lyrics return to nearness, longing, and being made new in God's presence. There is a slow build across the record, songs that take their time and earn their height. It is worship that asks you to settle rather than rush.

Favourite song: Rooftops

A soaring declaration of praise that lifts higher with each pass of the chorus. It is the bright peak of the set.

So I shout out Your name
From the rooftops I proclaim
That I am Yours, I am Yours
All that I am
I place into Your loving hands
And I am Yours, I am Yours

The way the song keeps climbing, refusing to settle, is what stays with me. It reminds me of a long ascent where the summit hides behind false tops, and you keep going until the real one opens out. The album holds that patience, a path that rewards the ones who do not turn back, and I have come away to it more than once.

Key takeaway

Come Away is generous, unhurried live worship, best heard whole. A gentle recommendation for a quiet evening with time to spare.
