Amazônia by Jean-Michel Jarre

Amazônia is Jean-Michel Jarre's 2021 album, written as a sound companion to an exhibition on the rainforest and its people. Jarre is a pioneer of electronic music, and here he builds a single, immersive work in nine connected parts. I came to it expecting his usual synth craft and found something closer to a film for the ears.

The piece moves as one long flow rather than separate songs, layering field sounds with deep electronics. The production is rich and binaural, built to surround the listener.
