A Posteriori by Enigma

A Posteriori is Enigma's seventh album, released in 2006, and one of its most instrumental and abstract. Michael Cretu turns away from chant and toward the cosmos, with track titles about Andromeda, the moon, and the Milky Way. I came back to it for the sense of looking outward at something vast and calm.

Why listen?

The sound is sleek, downtempo electronica, full of deep space and slow pulse. The production is glossy and immersive, made for headphones and late hours. There are few words, so the mood does the talking, drifting between awe and unease. There is a meditative distance here, music that pulls back to see the whole sky.
