Lethal Weapon 3

Lethal Weapon 3 (1992), directed by Richard Donner, follows Riggs and Murtaugh as they chase a former police officer who steals confiscated weapons and sells them on the streets. Mel Gibson plays Riggs, who meets his match in a tough internal affairs sergeant.
Stuart Wilson plays Jack Travis, an ex-cop turned arms dealer who knows how the police work and stays one step ahead. Rene Russo plays Lorna Cole, an internal affairs sergeant who can fight as well as Riggs and does not back down from anything. Joe Pesci returns as Leo Getz, now a real estate agent who finds his way back into trouble. Danny Glover plays Murtaugh, who faces a personal crisis when a young man he knows is killed by one of the stolen guns. The film runs one hour and 58 minutes.
Why You Should Watch
Rene Russo brings a spark the series needed. Lorna Cole is not a love interest who waits to be rescued. She fights, argues, and matches Riggs blow for blow. Their scene comparing scars is funny and sharp and builds a connection that feels earned rather than forced. She changes the dynamic of the series for the better.
The villain hits closer to home than before. A corrupt cop selling weapons to gangs puts the guns straight into the hands of children, and Murtaugh faces that cost directly. Danny Glover plays his grief and anger in a scene that goes beyond anything the series asked of him before. The action is loud and the comedy is broad, but those quieter moments give the film its spine. Joe Pesci settles into the group naturally, and the three leads together have a rhythm that carries even the weaker stretches.
Favourite Quote
"Close to retirement. So close."
Murtaugh mutters this as the danger rises once more. Each film pushes him further from the quiet life he wants. The line is a running joke, but Danny Glover plays it with a tiredness that makes it feel honest every time.
Takeaway
The weapons you put on the street come back to your door. The film teaches that corruption within the system does more damage than any outside threat. Meeting someone who challenges you as an equal can change your life. The closer you get to the end, the harder it becomes to walk away. And the people you protect are worth more than the peace you planned for yourself.
