Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), directed by James Gunn, tells the story of Rocket's origins and the team's final mission together. Chris Pratt plays Peter Quill, who must hold the group together one last time to save the friend who never asked for help.
Rocket is dying. The key to saving him lies in his past, in the laboratories of the High Evolutionary, played by Chukwudi Iwuji. This man experiments on animals to build a perfect species, and Rocket was one of his subjects. Bradley Cooper voices Rocket, whose memories of cages, pain, and lost friends drive the emotional core of the film. Zoe Saldana plays Gamora, a different version of herself who does not remember the team. Dave Bautista plays Drax, who finds a new purpose. Pom Klementieff plays Mantis, who chooses her own path. The film runs two hours and 30 minutes. It is the final chapter of this team's story.
Why You Should Watch
This is Rocket's film. The flashbacks to his creation are hard to watch. A small raccoon in a cage, given a voice and a mind he never asked for, befriending other animals who share his fate. Bradley Cooper's voice work here is the best it has been across all three films. You feel his anger, his fear, and the love he buried under years of sharp words.
Chukwudi Iwuji plays the High Evolutionary with a cold certainty that makes him one of the most unsettling villains in the series. He does not see his subjects as alive. They are drafts to be discarded. James Gunn balances the darkness with the warmth and humour the series is known for, but this time the tears come easier. The final act gives each Guardian a proper ending. It is rare for a trilogy to land its third part this well.
Favourite Quote
"I am done running."
Rocket says this when he faces the place that made him. He has spent three films hiding from his past. This line marks the moment he stops. It is quiet and it carries the weight of everything he has survived.
Takeaway
The things done to you do not decide who you become. The film teaches that pain shared with others loses some of its grip. Running from your past only gives it more power. Every living thing has value that no one else gets to decide. And saying goodbye to the people who changed your life is not an ending. It is proof that the time together mattered.
