Hiked part 1/20 of the Marskramer Path, 25.5 kilometres from Bad Bentheim to Oldenzaal.
The sturdy Bentheim Castle dominates the city. The largest high-altitude castle in northwest Germany stands proudly above the city and is built from Bentheim sandstone. This sandstone was extracted from quarries in the area and was also used later in the Ostmühle on the Mühlenberg.
