What is wifiFirmwareLoader?

wifiFirmwareLoader loads firmware onto your Mac Wi-Fi chip each time it starts up. The Wi-Fi chip needs this firmware, a small piece of software loaded into its memory, to work. Unlike the main macOS software on your SSD, Wi-Fi firmware is loaded fresh at every boot.

Why does the chip need firmware loaded each time?

Wi-Fi chips are small processors in their own right. They need firmware to handle:

Keeping the firmware on macOS rather than inside the chip lets Apple update Wi-Fi firmware through normal macOS updates.

When does it run?

wifiFirmwareLoader runs early in the boot process. Once the firmware is loaded, the job is done and airportd takes over managing Wi-Fi.

Does it use many resources?

No. It runs briefly during boot and then stops.

Should you worry?

No. It is a normal macOS boot process. If your Wi-Fi stops working after a macOS update, it could be a firmware issue, but this is rare and usually fixed in a later update.
