What is wifianalyticsd?

You might notice wifianalyticsd in Activity Monitor. It is one of Apple's data collection processes.

What is wifianalyticsd?

wifianalyticsd gathers information about your Wi-Fi connection. Apple uses this data to improve Wi-Fi performance and reliability in future macOS updates.

What data does it collect?

It gathers details about your Wi-Fi experience:

This data is made anonymous and is only sent to Apple if you have chosen to share analytics data.

Is it sending my data to Apple?

Only if you have turned on analytics sharing. You can check in System Settings, Privacy and Security, Analytics and Improvements. If "Share Mac Analytics" is off, the data stays on your Mac.

Does it use many resources?

No. It collects data quietly in the background and uses very little processor power or memory.

Can you turn it off?

Switching off analytics sharing in Privacy and Security settings will stop the data from being sent to Apple. The process may still run but will not send anything.

Should you worry?

No. It is a normal Apple diagnostics process. If you are concerned about privacy, turn off analytics sharing in System Settings.
