What is tmp_cleaner?
tmp_cleaner does what its name says.
What is tmp_cleaner?
tmp_cleaner removes old temporary files from your Mac. It clears out /tmp, /var/tmp, and other temporary folders on a schedule.
How is it different from dirhelper?
Both clean temporary files, but in different places. tmp_cleaner handles the standard Unix temp folders. dirhelper manages per-user temporary folders. Together they stop temporary files from piling up.
Does it delete important files?
No. It only touches files in temporary folders. Well-written programmes do not store important data in temporary folders.
Should you worry?
No. It is a simple housekeeping process that keeps temporary folders tidy.
