What is RFBEventHelper?

RFBEventHelper handles input during screen sharing sessions on your Mac.

What does it do?

When someone connects to your Mac through Screen Sharing, they send mouse clicks and key presses from their own computer. RFBEventHelper takes those inputs and turns them into real actions on your Mac.

RFB stands for Remote Framebuffer. It is the protocol behind VNC (Virtual Network Computing), which is the technology macOS uses for its built-in Screen Sharing feature.

When does it run?

Only when Screen Sharing is turned on and someone is connected. You can turn Screen Sharing on or off in System Settings, then General, then Sharing, then Screen Sharing.

Is it safe?

Screen Sharing requires a valid username and password before anyone can connect. That said, if it is turned on while you are on a public network, someone could try to guess your password. Only turn it on when you need it, and limit which users can connect.

Should you worry?

No. If you use Screen Sharing, this process is normal. If you do not use it, check that Screen Sharing is turned off in your Sharing settings.
