What is remoted?

remoted manages connections to remote devices, mainly the link between your Mac and connected iOS or iPadOS devices. It handles tasks like:

Xcode debugging on a connected iPhone or iPad
Device management jobs
Finding and connecting to remote services
Talking to Apple TV and other Apple devices

What is remotemanagementd?

remotemanagementd handles Remote Management, the feature that lets someone view and control your Mac's screen from afar. IT teams use it for remote support.

You can turn Remote Management on or off in System Settings, then General, then Sharing, then Remote Management.

Are they security risks?

Both processes respect macOS security settings:

remotemanagementd only allows connections if Remote Management is turned on
Connections need a login
Screen sharing can be limited to certain users

If Remote Management is off in Sharing settings, remotemanagementd does not accept connections.

Should you worry?

No. remoted handles normal device links. For remotemanagementd, check System Settings, then General, then Sharing to make sure Remote Management is set the way you want, especially if your Mac is not managed by an organisation.
