What is relatived?
relatived is a background process on macOS that links your data together.
What is relatived?
relatived finds connections between things on your Mac: documents, photos, contacts, and other data. It helps macOS understand that a photo might be linked to a contact, or that a document ties to a calendar event.
What features use it?
- Spotlight search suggestions (showing related results)
- Siri's understanding of links between your data
- Photos (people, places, and memory links)
- Smart suggestions in apps
Does it look at my data?
Yes, but only on your device. relatived builds a map of connections from your local data. This map never leaves your Mac and is not sent to Apple.
Does it use many resources?
Usually very little. It may use more after a big change, like importing many photos or syncing a large email archive.
Should you worry?
No. It is a standard macOS feature that helps your Mac give you better search results and suggestions.
