What is managedappdistributiond?
managedappdistributiond manages the installation and updating of apps sent through an MDM (Mobile Device Management) server. When your organisation pushes apps to your Mac, whether from the Mac App Store or as custom enterprise apps, this daemon handles the distribution.
What does it do?
- Receiving app install commands from the MDM server
- Downloading and installing managed apps
- Updating managed apps when new versions appear
- Removing managed apps when told to by the MDM server
- Managing app licences for Volume Purchase Programme apps
When is it active?
Only on Macs enrolled in an MDM solution. If your Mac is not managed by an organisation, this process has nothing to do.
Should you worry?
No. It is a normal macOS enterprise management process for distributing apps to managed devices.
