What is lskdd?
lskdd is a Launch Services process on macOS.
What is lskdd?
lskdd is the Launch Services kernel driver daemon. It passes Launch Services data between the kernel and the rest of the system. The kernel needs to know which apps are registered and what file types they handle so it can manage file operations properly.
Why does the kernel need app information?
When the kernel handles file operations such as open, save, or copy, it sometimes needs to know about file type links and app registrations. For example, it may need the right file type details or quarantine attributes. lskdd gives the kernel this information.
Does it use many resources?
No. It is a small, light process.
Should you worry?
No. It is a normal part of macOS that supports the Launch Services system.
