What is KernelEventAgent?
KernelEventAgent is a system process that responds to events from the kernel.
What is KernelEventAgent?
KernelEventAgent watches for kernel-level events and acts on them. It looks for events that need a response from the visible part of the system, where the kernel spots something but needs help from the graphical layer to deal with it.
What events does it handle?
Common events include:
- Disk full: when a volume runs out of space, the kernel tells
KernelEventAgent, which shows a warning - Unreachable volumes: when a network volume goes missing
- File system errors: when the kernel finds file system problems
- Resource shortage: when kernel resources run critically low
How is it different from kuncd?
kuncd shows kernel messages as dialog boxes. KernelEventAgent handles kernel events that need more than a message. It may take action to fix the problem, work with other parts of the system, or set off system responses.
Does it use many resources?
No. It waits for kernel events, which are rare during normal use.
Should you worry?
No. It is a normal macOS process. If it becomes active, pay attention to any warnings it shows. They point to something the kernel thinks matters.
