What is eligibilityd?
eligibilityd decides which features your Mac can use.
What is eligibilityd?
eligibilityd checks whether your Mac qualifies for certain features. Not all macOS features work on every Mac or in every country. This process looks at your hardware, your region, your account, and other details to work out what should be turned on.
What does it check?
It can check:
- Hardware: whether your Mac has the right chip or sensor (for example, Apple Intelligence needs M1 or later)
- Region: whether a feature is offered in your country
- Account: whether your Apple ID meets the requirements
- OS version: whether your version of macOS supports the feature
- Device state: whether your Mac meets other needs, such as having enough storage
What features depend on it?
Examples include:
- Apple Intelligence features (needs the right hardware, language, and region)
- Certain Siri features
- Apple Pay and Apple Card (depends on region)
- Some accessibility features (depends on hardware)
Should you worry?
No. It is a normal macOS process that turns on the right features for your Mac, region, and account.
