What is CSCSupportd?
CSCSupportd is a networking process tied to offline file access.
What is CSCSupportd?
CSCSupportd stands for Client-Side Caching Support daemon. It handles the local caching of files from network shares, letting you reach shared files even when the network is not available.
What does it do?
When you open files on a network share (an SMB file server), CSCSupportd can cache copies on your Mac. This means you can keep working with those files if the network drops or you take your laptop away from the office.
When is it active?
CSCSupportd runs when you are connected to network shares that support offline caching. In workplace settings, file servers are often set up to allow offline access to certain shared folders.
On a personal Mac with no connection to workplace file servers, this process does little.
Should you worry?
No. It is a normal macOS networking feature for working with network files offline.
