What is betaenrollmentd?
betaenrollmentd manages your Mac's place in Apple beta programs.
What is betaenrollmentd?
betaenrollmentd handles signing up and managing your Mac in Apple's beta software programs, both the macOS Developer Beta and Public Beta. It manages registration, access checks, and update channel settings.
When does it run?
The daemon is active when:
- You sign your Mac up to a beta program through System Settings, then General, then Software Update, then Beta Updates
- Your Mac checks for beta updates
- Your enrolment status needs to be checked with Apple servers
What does it do?
betaenrollmentd handles:
- Registering your Mac with Apple's beta program
- Checking your Apple ID has beta access
- Switching the software update channel to receive beta builds
- Managing removal when you leave the beta program
Is it always running?
It runs now and then to check enrolment status. If you are not in any beta program, it does very little.
Should you worry?
No. It is a normal macOS process for beta program management. If you see it and are not in a beta program, it is simply checking (and confirming) that your Mac is on the stable release channel.
