Penny Update

Vapor's Penny Discord bot has been getting better and better. She can not only give coin to members, but also ping members for keywords, and keep users up to date with Swift's evolution.

The Vapor team announced a new update for Penny, their Discord bot, enhancing it to post Swift Evolution proposal updates in the #swift-evolution channel, with an option for users to follow these updates on their own servers.

Previously, Penny struggled with issues like coin distribution and Discord Gateway connectivity, prompting a rewrite by Tim and Benny using DiscordBM, a Swift library developed by MahdiBM to address these problems, resulting in stable performance for over eight months.

Penny’s deployment is automated via a CI pipeline that runs tests, uploads Lambda functions to AWS, and deploys to AWS ECR. Current features include granting coins for member appreciation, keyword pinging, GitHub sponsor management, and the new Swift Evolution updates, with more enhancements planned.
