The swift-5.2-branch was cut on December 9, 2019, with changes accepted via pull requests that meet release criteria, while certain projects like indexstore-db and swift-package-manager have extended cutoff dates until January 7, 2020.

Language and API changes require Swift Evolution approval, ideally completed by the branch date, with bug fixes evaluated based on risk and impact, and acceptance criteria growing stricter as the release approaches. Downloadable snapshots from the branch are available regularly for testing.
