Ghost Hunt by Lo Hartog van Banda

Why read the book?
A Wells Fargo coach has vanished carrying passengers and Calamity Jane's prized Winchester. Tales spread that Phantom Valley is ruled by the spectre of a fearsome woman, none other than Jane herself, though Jane is plainly still among the living and none too pleased about it.
Neither Luke nor Jane believes in ghosts, so they ride to the ghost town of Doom to find the truth. Jane even disguises herself as a refined lady among the passengers to draw out the thieves, and together she and Luke unmask the gang behind the spooky stories.
Favourite quote
I am no ghost, and the men who say so will wish they were.
What I Loved
Pairing Luke with the rowdy Calamity Jane is always good value, and her fury at being declared dead is a fine running joke.
The haunted town setup gives the album a pleasant mock spooky flavour while keeping every mystery firmly down to earth.
Key Takeaway
Behind every frontier ghost story there is usually a band of very ordinary crooks.
