De Cock en moord in triplo by A.C. Baantjer

Why read the book?
In a red rain cape, the very attractive Arendje van Nijmegen rushes into the office at the Warmoesstraat station. Since her husband went to play tennis with a neighbour, nothing has been heard from him. She fears he is dead. De Cock asks whether another man is involved, or whether she has an admirer who saw her husband Richard as an obstacle.
The woman has barely left when the duty officer reports a dead man, found in an armchair wearing only a tight bathrobe. It is Arendje's missing husband. Soon after, Eric van Groesbeek is found dead, the man Arendje says she loves deeply.
Coincidence? De Cock no longer believes in it. Arendje seems to be a fatal woman. He and Vledder set out to learn what deep love means to her.
Favourite quote
Detective De Cock of the venerable police station on the Amsterdam Warmoesstraat rolled his chair back a little and looked at Vledder with a smile.
What I Loved
Two deaths around one woman make a clean, focused puzzle, and the question of whether she is a victim or a cause keeps it sharp. The Amsterdam station setting frames it well.
De Cock's refusal to accept coincidence is the engine of the case, and it is good detective sense.
Key Takeaway
Two deaths linked to one woman, and De Cock's plain refusal to call it chance.
